Egress Window
Replacement & Installation

Egress windows do more than bring natural light into a basement. They provide a safe emergency exit while helping transform lower-level spaces into brighter, more functional living areas.

Whether you're finishing a basement, adding a bedroom, or replacing an aging egress window, proper sizing and installation are essential to meeting building code requirements and ensuring long-term performance.

A properly installed egress window can improve safety, increase natural light, and make your basement feel more comfortable and inviting.

Why Homeowners Choose Egress Windows

Egress windows offer benefits that go far beyond meeting building code requirements.

Improved Safety: Egress windows provide a safe emergency exit from basement living spaces and bedrooms.

More Natural Light: Large window openings help brighten basements and reduce the closed-in feeling common in lower-level spaces.

Better Ventilation: Operable egress windows allow fresh air to circulate through the basement.

Increased Living Space: Egress windows make finished basements feel more comfortable, functional, and inviting.

Code Compliance: Egress windows help provide the emergency escape access required for basement bedrooms and many finished living spaces.

Added Home Value: Many homeowners install egress windows as part of a basement renovation or finishing project.

Our Process

Our Window Replacement and Installation Process

Michigan winters don't forgive failing seals or poor installs, and if you've already tried getting this fixed once, you know how frustrating it is to deal with contractors who show up late, skip the details, or leave you hanging mid-job.

It doesn't have to be like that.

STEP 1: Free Consultation

An experienced technician comes to your home, evaluates your windows, takes measurements, and walks you through your options, no pressure. Most consultations take less than an hour. We'll talk through your goals (energy efficiency, aesthetics, budget) and give you our honest take. That includes telling you when a less expensive option makes just as much sense as a premium one.

Step 2: Custom Order & Timeline

All windows are made to fit your exact measurements, nothing off a shelf, so windows typically take 4–6 weeks. We'll send you an update when they're ordered and again once we have a ship date, so we can lock in your install day.

Step 3: Installation Day

Before we touch anything, we protect your floors, furniture, and landscaping using drop cloths, runners, plastic sheeting, and boot covers.

Then we remove the old units, inspect the opening for rot or moisture damage, and install your new windows with proper sealing and insulation.

After that, we trim and seal inside and out, clean up completely, and do a walk-through with you before we leave, and we take all the debris with us.

When Should You Replace Your Egress Windows?

Like any window, egress windows can deteriorate over time and may eventually require replacement.

Common signs it may be time for replacement include:

  • Water intrusion around the window or well
  • Difficulty opening or closing the window
  • Condensation between panes of glass
  • Damaged wells, covers, or drainage systems
  • Drafts entering the basement
  • Visible deterioration of the frame or surrounding area
  • A basement space that no longer meets your family's needs

Replacing an aging egress window can improve safety, comfort, and functionality while helping protect your basement from future problems.
